Some random chronically online writing about consumer tech as a regular user. Fight me on my socials below.

TL;DR: It’s a beautiful luxury smart watch with health statistics in mind. Most of the features are overkill to a normal user.

I got this smartwatch as a gift. So it doesn’t feel fair to judge it by the $500 price tag it has. However this has been a great addition to my everyday life.

This smartwatch is more like a smart band that shows you basic notifications, but it packs a medical approved electrocardiogram… For whatever reason. It can track your sleep and workouts.

The Good.

  • It’s a beautiful time piece, gets you a lot of compliments.

  • Tracks your sleep

  • Tracks your workouts with different programs (but there’s a flaw)

  • It’s surprisingly sturdy

  • It comes with both a plastic and a metallic wrist band

  • It includes a resizing kit and it’s very easy to resize the metallic wrist band

  • It’s relatively easy to switch between bands. The plastic one is easier to put on than the metallic.

I use this watch everyday, all day. I only take it off to shower and to charge it. I’m surprised on how sturdy it is. My Kickboxing workouts have it under constant impact and me being kind of a klutz I hit my car’s chassis with it quite often. The watch is spotless, scratch free and looks amazing.

The Bad.

  • Battery life is great, I charge it every 2 weeks. But they boast a month long battery life, so if it’s supposed to last twice as much, it’s bad.

  • The watch leaves marks on my skin when wearing it for workouts or extended times.

  • The Scanwatch has a very unique alarm system that has never woken me up. But it’s appreciated.

  • The knob controller position causes accidental pauses of workouts. Very frustrating.

This is my biggest gripe. Whenever you place your palm flat in a 90 degree angle, to do a basic simple push up, the watch will dig into your hand and stop tracking your workout. My solution has been to wear it on my right hand or backwards.

The Fancy.

The Scanwatch has a very interesting alarm system. Since the watch tracks your sleep, you can set up a time window where it will wake you up whenever your sleep is the lightest. But then, I am a very heavy sleeper, so I’m not giving it a bad point for not waking me up. It also included a plastic wrist band, which is my favorite and a metallic wrist band as well. It might not be very clear that it includes both as my family bought an extra metallic wrist band by mistake, thinking it wasn’t included in the box.

Both the watch and the extra metallic wristband come with a band resizing kit which is super easy to use.

The Verdict.

Overall it’s a very good looking watch, packing a lot of functionality and smartwatch-fitness band level of technology to your everyday life. If you’re into luxury watches but want the convenience of a smartwatch or a fitness band. This is definitely a product you should give a try. I love it.
